Rapidata Raises $2.8M Seed Round Led by IA Ventures

Rapidata $2.8M Seed Round announcement

Today, we are thrilled to announce that Rapidata has raised a $2.8M Seed Round led by IA Ventures, with participation from several strategic angel investors who have deep experience building and scaling enterprise data companies. This funding marks a significant milestone in our mission to make real-time data analytics accessible to every enterprise — regardless of the size or complexity of their data infrastructure.

When Marcus, Sofia, and I started Rapidata in 2023, we were motivated by a problem we had all experienced firsthand: the painful, expensive, and frustratingly slow process of building reliable real-time data pipelines at scale. Organizations were spending millions of dollars and months of engineering effort on infrastructure that, at its core, should be a solved problem. We believed there had to be a better way — and that better way is what we have been building.

Why This Moment Is Critical for Enterprise Data

The enterprise data market is at an inflection point. For the past decade, the story of enterprise analytics was about batch processing — nightly ETL jobs, hourly warehouse refreshes, and dashboards that were always a few hours behind reality. Companies invested heavily in Hadoop clusters and data lakes, only to discover that the complexity of operating them was nearly as expensive as the value they delivered.

Then the modern data stack emerged: cloud-native data warehouses like Snowflake and BigQuery, transformation frameworks like dbt, and orchestration tools like Airflow gave data teams powerful new ways to work. But even the modern data stack was fundamentally designed for latency measured in minutes to hours, not milliseconds.

Today, the fastest-growing companies are competing on data speed. Fraud detection systems that identify suspicious transactions in real time. Recommendation engines that update based on the last click, not the last page load. Inventory management systems that react to demand signals before a stockout occurs. These use cases cannot wait for a nightly batch job.

The infrastructure to power these applications has historically required teams of senior distributed systems engineers, weeks of setup, and ongoing operational overhead that consumed engineering bandwidth better spent on product. Rapidata was built to change that equation entirely.

What We Have Built

Over the past eighteen months, we have built a real-time data analytics platform that packages the power of Apache Kafka and Apache Flink — the open-source foundations trusted by companies like LinkedIn, Uber, and Netflix — into a fully managed service that any data team can operate without specialized streaming expertise.

Our platform provides three core capabilities:

Real-time stream processing: Ingest and transform event streams from any source with sub-5ms end-to-end latency and exactly-once processing semantics. Auto-scale from a few thousand events per second to billions per day without changing a single line of configuration.

Enterprise data pipelines: Build, deploy, and monitor ETL/ELT pipelines using a visual drag-and-drop interface or SQL-based transformations. 150+ native connectors for databases, SaaS applications, cloud storage, and custom APIs. dbt integration for teams that have already standardized on SQL-based transformation workflows.

Business intelligence: Interactive dashboards that update in real time, scheduled report delivery, and embedded analytics capabilities for customer-facing applications — all with role-based access controls and single sign-on support.

What IA Ventures Brings Beyond Capital

We spent significant time evaluating which investors would be the right partners for Rapidata's next phase. IA Ventures stood out not only for their deep expertise in data-driven technology companies, but for the quality of their portfolio and the thoughtfulness of their approach to company building.

IA Ventures has a long track record backing companies that apply data science and machine learning to transform traditional industries. Their portfolio includes multiple companies that have become category leaders in enterprise data infrastructure. Their partners bring firsthand experience scaling data platforms and understand the specific challenges of selling complex technical infrastructure to large enterprise customers.

More than the capital, we value the relationships, introductions, and strategic guidance that IA Ventures brings to our business as we begin to scale our go-to-market motion and expand our enterprise customer base.

How We Will Use the Funding

The $2.8M Seed Round will be deployed primarily across three areas. Sixty percent will go toward expanding our engineering team. We are actively hiring senior distributed systems engineers, data platform architects, and site reliability engineers who want to work on genuinely hard problems at the intersection of streaming systems, cloud infrastructure, and developer experience.

Twenty-five percent of the funding will support our early go-to-market build-out. We are hiring a small but exceptional solutions engineering and customer success team to support the enterprise customers who are already generating revenue on our platform. Selling complex data infrastructure requires a different skill set than traditional SaaS sales — our go-to-market hires will be deeply technical individuals who can partner with engineering and data teams through a consultative buying process.

The remaining fifteen percent will go toward infrastructure and security investments, including completing our SOC 2 Type II certification and expanding our managed cloud infrastructure footprint to support multi-region deployments for customers with data residency requirements.

Our Early Customers and Traction

We are proud that even at this early stage, Rapidata is generating revenue from a cohort of enterprise customers across financial services, e-commerce, and SaaS. These customers are processing hundreds of millions of events per day through our platform and have validated the core value proposition we set out to build: real-time data infrastructure that deploys in days, not months, and operates reliably without requiring a dedicated streaming engineering team.

Their feedback has shaped every aspect of our product roadmap — from the design of the pipeline builder to the granularity of our observability tooling. We are deeply grateful for their trust in Rapidata at such an early stage, and we are committed to earning that trust every day through reliability, transparency, and rapid product iteration.

What Comes Next

With this funding, we are moving from early traction to growth phase. Our immediate priorities are:

Beyond product, we are beginning to invest in the Rapidata brand and community. We will be publishing more technical content — tutorials, benchmark reports, and architectural deep dives — that reflects the expertise of our team and provides genuine value to the data engineering community we are part of.

Key Takeaways

A Note of Gratitude

None of this would be possible without the trust and support of our early customers, our advisors, and our investors. Building a company from scratch requires an enormous amount of belief — belief in the problem, belief in the team, and belief in the long game. We are grateful for everyone who has placed that bet with us.

To our team: thank you for building something truly worth building. The work we do every day — making real-time data infrastructure reliable, accessible, and fast — matters enormously to the organizations that depend on it.
